AI Cargo Foundation” is an association founded three years ago, funded by government programs and stemming from HUB France IA, which promotesartificial intelligence in the transport and logistics sectors. Its goal is to support all players in the industry in their energy and environmental transition. To achieve this, the association relies ona data exchange platform that collects data and processes it using AI to optimize the sector. The innovation hub of AI Cargo Foundation brings together private stakeholders, professional organizations, and institutions. Its legal framework guarantees neutrality and confidentiality.
Following the Paris Agreement and the Kyoto Protocol, the European Climate Law set 2050 as the target for achieving carbon neutrality. The environment remains one of the major challenges in transport and logistics. Freight transport accounts for 9% of greenhouse gas emissions in France, or 40 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per year. To reduce the environmental impact of freight transport, digital support is necessary—this is what AI Cargo Foundation offers.
The association aims, in particular, to help French and European transport and logistics players remain competitive at the European level by providing them with a platform for data pooling and exchange, APIs, and high-performance services related to industry data. AI Cargo Foundation is notably leading the modal shift program “Appel d’aiR”. Launched a year ago, it aims to support all stakeholders in the sector in shifting freight from road to rail or river. Many other solutions related to the supply chain, carbon footprint measurement, modal shift, and urban logistics are also offered. Several web and mobile applications are already available.
The association develops its activities sector by sector (grains, chemicals, automotive, etc.) because each sector has specific needs. The goal is therefore to evolve the tool to best meet the different expectations.
